The London Eye, SE1

London EyeLondon seems to be buzzing again in a way it hasn't since the Sixties. One of its great success stories is the London Eye, which opened as the Millennium Wheel in 2000.

Like the Paris’ Eiffel Tower, it's gone from being dismissed as an eyesore to being an iconic image of the city, so it was only a matter of time before it popped up on the big screen. Tennis pro Peter Colt (Paul Bettany) has a bit of a ruck with an arrogant rival in one of the Eye's pods in Wimbledon. For the big-screen version of Thunderbirds, the huge green Thunderbird 2 whizzes past the Eye to land in Jubilee Gardens alongside County Hall. It’s in one of the pods that the teen agent (Frankie Muniz) gets briefed on arriving in the capital in Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London.
