St Pancras Old Church, Pancras Road, NW1
St Pancras Old Church, in St Pancras Gardens, is the site of the ill-fated marriage of Danny (Douglas Henshall) and Hannah (Catherine McCormack) at the opening of the Camden-set comedy This Year’s Love.
In the churchyard of this 11th-century church (which was substantially renovated in the 14th, 17th and 19th centuries) rested Mary Wollestonecraft, early feminist and the mother of the woman who wrote Frankenstein, until she was whisked off to the family plot. Still in place is Sir John Soane, architect, whose odd grave, which he designed himself, is covered by a stone canopy. This grave was the inspiration for Gilbert Scott, when he designed the old red London phone box.
