With its money and luxury, Mayfair on film seems to have more than its fair share of gangsterism: Gangster No 1, Sorted and Sexy Beast all featured sequences in the area. But Daddy of them all has to be Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg’s dazzling Performance.

115 Mount Street at Mount Street Mews was the office of gangster boss Harry Flowers (Johnny Shannon), where Turner Purple (Mick Jagger) performs the hallucinatory Memo From Turner. It’s now the Goedhuis art gallery.

Trivia: 44 Mount Street was home to suave song-and-dance man Jack Buchanan, best remembered from Vincente Minnelli’s 1953 musical The Band Wagon.
