Sloane Square, SW1
Chris Wilton (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) waits alongside the war memorial in Sloane Square, Chelsea, as Nola Rice (Scarlett Johansson) auditions at the famous Royal Court Theatre in Woody Allen's Match Point.
In 1956, John Osborne's Look Back in Anger opened at the Royal Court. The third production by the (then) new English Stage Company, under Artistic Director George Devine, it spawned the ‘kitchen sink’ genre and is generally considered the play that marks the beginning of modern British drama.
Trivia: The Rocky Horror Show started life as a small production in the Royal Court's 60-seater Theatre Upstairs.
