Leaving Trafalgar Square through Admiralty Arch, to your left, gleaming and much-cleaned up, stands the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Building, the old Admiralty Building, which became the ‘Ministry of Defence’ building to which Harry Palmer (Michael Caine) is summoned to the office of Colonel Ross (Guy Doleman) to be transferred to Major Dalby’s (Nigel Green) outfit in the Sixties riposte to glossy Bond movies, The Ipcress File.
