Les Ambassadeurs, Hamilton Place, W1
At Les Ambassadeurs, Hamilton Place, two enduring sixties icons were launched onto the screen. In 1962’s Dr No, James Bond made his first screen appearance, in the person of Sean Connery, at the chemin-de-fer table in the Ambassadeurs’ Le Cercle Club, with the words: “The name’s Bond... James Bond.”
OK, the gaming room was duplicated in the studio at Pinewood, but in 1964 it was the real Ambassadeurs, the Garrison Room to be precise, where the Beatles escaped from their hotel suite to bop the night away in their first feature film, A Hard Day’s Night. Well over forty years later, the club is still going strong as an exclusive casino, offering American Roulette, Blackjack, Casino Stud Poker and Punto Banco (Baccarat).
