Hatton Garden, EC1

Eyes Wide Shut, Hatton GardenLondon's Diamond District street, Hatton Garden, was transformed into ‘Greenwich Village’, where Dr Bill Harford (Tom Cruise) is stalked by the sinister baldy man after leaving the apartment of hooker Domino, in Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut.

Between numbers 32 and 38 Hatton Garden, a couple of New York-style payphones were added, a London fire hydrant sign covered up and shop awnings decked out with US “(212) 555” phone numbers. The stalker, by the way, is on a different street altogether, closer to Old Street.

Diamond House, 37-38 Hatton Garden, is the site of the jewellery heist pulled off by Wanda Gershwitz (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Otto (Kevin Kline) in A Fish Called Wanda.

Trivia: Although 212 is the genuine New York dialling code, 555 is a fictitious area code generally used in American movies to avoid the expensive litigation which can result from unintentionally using a real phone number on screen.
