The discovery of a discarded human heart blocking a hotel toilet sets off Stephen Frears' unlikely thriller, set against the interesting milieu of London's semi-legal immigrant underclass. Needless to say, the ‘Baltic Hotel’, in which Okwe (Chiwetel Ejiofor) retrieves the surplus organ, is fictitious. What hotel needs that kind of publicity? The entrance to the ‘hotel’ is 4 Whitehall Court at Horseguards Avenue.

Trivia: Although the rooms and corridors of the hotel were built in the studio, the imposing lobby is that of Wandsworth Town Hall, southwest London.
