Postman's Park, King Edward Street, EC2

In this tiny park, alongside the church of St Botolph-without-Aldersgate, a wall of ceramic tiles commemorates heroic deeds of ordinary people, all of whom gave their lives trying to save others.

This was the idea of Victorian painter and radical socialist, GF Watts. This is where Dan (Jude Law) and Alice (Natalie Portman) meet in Closer. And, yes, the Alice Ayres memorial is real.

Trivia: the tiles were made by famous ceramic firm Royal Doulton.
