The Warrington Hotel, 93 Warrington Crescent, W9

Bunny Lake, Warriington HotelAlthough Reese Witherspoon has dropped out, the remake of Otto Preminger’s sardonic psycho-thriller Bunny Lake Is Missing is still on the cards.

The Sixties original makes good use of its London locations. You might think you've wandered into the anteroom of a Parisian bordello when you walk into the overblown crimson and gilt bar of the Warrington. And rumours persist that, indeed, you could once be entertained in its private rooms. Certainly, music hall star Marie Lloyd enjoyed quaffing Champers in its theatrical ambience. In Preminger’s film, detective Laurence Olivier comforts distraught Carol Lynley here during the search for her missing – or possibly imaginary – daughter.

Chef Gordon Ramsay has recently bought the pub and plans to turn the upstairs into a restaurant.
