Royal Exchange Buildings, Cornhill, EC3

Bridget Jones, CornhillFrom Bank Station, walk east along Cornhill to the Royal Exchange Buildings. You’ll probably recognise the quaintly period shops on the southwest corner from the end of Bridget Jones’s Diary. This is where Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) buys a new diary, and Bridget (Renée Zellweger) finally gets her clinch in the snow – after apparently running all the way from Borough Market in her tiny, stripy pants.

The shops mysteriously moved up north to become Nazir’s hat boutique, ‘Le Beau Chapeau’, in Bradford-set comedy East Is East, and were transformed into the flower shop where Clarissa Dalloway (Vanessa Redgrave) briefly glimpses Septimus Smith (Rupert Graves) in the film of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway.
