Freemasons Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, WC2

The interior of Freemasons Hall (more properly, United Grand Lodge of England Freemasons Hall) is a screen regular. It has been seen in The Saint, FairyTale: A True Story, Henry James adaptation The Wings of the Dove, Miranda (with Christina Ricci) and Dodie Smith’s I Capture The Castle, Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London and a host of TV shows.

The Hall, both exterior and interior, became Rowan Atkinson’s ‘MI7’ HQ in spy spoof Johnny English (and performed a similar function for TV series Spooks). It became the temple of Humma Kuvala (John Malkovich) in The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. For Basic Instinct 2, it was transformed into the court where Catherine Trammell (Sharon Stone) is revealed to be suffering from that most cinematic of psychological complaints, Risk Addiction.
